How the ABCTE Certification Program Works
- Eligibility Check
Ensure you have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and pass a criminal background check. - Register Online
Create an account at ABCTE Registration and select your desired certification area. - Study the Coursework
Access self-paced, online study materials, including the "Prepare to Teach" workshop and subject-specific refresher courses. - Take the Exams
Complete two exams:- Professional Teaching Knowledge (PTK)
- Subject Area Knowledge
Both exams are computer-based and can be taken separately.
- Receive Certification
Upon passing both exams, receive your "Passport to Teaching," granting certification in eligible states.
